Local Attractions in and around Ludham Village

Ludham

Although Limes Farm sits amongst fields, we are just a 10 minute walk into the centre of Ludham village, where there is Throwers (a comprehensive village store and post office), a butcher's, a tea shop, a florist and The Kings Arms pub and restaurant. Walk 5 minutes in the other direction and there is The Dog pub (a firm favourite for lunches and often has live music), which, as the name might suggest, is particularly dog friendly. Another few minutes up the road is Ludham Bridge, where you can hire day boats, canoes and bicycles, or have a break at the tea room.

The Broads

Limes Farm is particularly well placed for exploring The Broads and there are lots of local walks we can suggest for you. The best way to really see the Broads is from the water, either on a self driven dayboat, a guided tour on the Electric Eel water trail at How Hill nature reserve, or, for the brave, a canoe or kayak. Local wildlife is abundant in Ludham, and we often see dragonflies, barn owls, herons and deer. There is even a rare Bittern in our nearest broad and the elusive Swallowtail butterfly can sometimes be seen at Limes Farm.

Norfolk Coast

The Norfolk coast has plenty of unspoilt beaches. Our nearest beach is Blue Flag winning Sea Palling, a safe lifeguarded beach just 10 miles away. A few miles further away is Happisburgh, with its famous lighthouse, and it's great for walking with dogs. There is a pleasant beach walk to Cart Gap and Smallsticks Cafe. Further up the coast lie Blakeney for the seal watching trips and Wells, with picture postcard beach huts and long sandy shores.

Days Out

14 miles away is Norwich, full of history with ancient churches and cathedrals, theatres and museums, which sit alongside excellent shops and restaurants. 30 miles away lies the quaint old town of Holt, which is great for boutique shops and browsing at art and antiques.

The National Trust properties and gardens of Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall are both within easy reach. Garden lovers will particularly enjoy the famous 20 acre gardens of East Ruston Old Vicarage, just 11 miles away or Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden with its superb view across South Walsham Inner Broad where you can enjoy a boat trip.

Family Holiday

For those with children to entertain, there is Bewilderwood just 4 miles away which is great for those aged 2 and over, and Wroxham Barns is 7 miles away where children can feed farmyard animals and watch local crafts being made. Dinosaur Adventure and The Tiger Tree walk at Thriby Hall Wildlife Gardens have both proved a hit with visiting families. Cromer makes a good family day out, with sandy beaches, the pier, trying your hand at catching the famous Cromer crabs with a crabline or tucking into tasty fish and chips.
