Wildlife around Limes Farm, Ludham

Local wildlife is abundant in Ludham and we have often seen the rare swallowtail butterfly in the gardens. A barn owl is regularly seen swooping down the drive at dusk and at the end of the road is Buttle Marsh nature reserve where we occasionally hear (and have even seen) the elusive bitterns.

We have worked hard to include a diverse range of habitats to support local species, including adding bat and owl boxes, swallow shelters in our outbuildings, the inclusion of a wild flower area in our paddock and on our banks, along with a nectar bar area of garden, specifically designed to encourage butterflies. Since our arrival we have planted hundreds of native hedgerow plants along with many young trees which will provide food and shelter for a vast range of creatures for years to come.
